Although ABA Collective is small in size, our agency has a strong stance against the systemic racism that has been present throughout the years across many parts of our society such as – but not limited to – healthcare, housing, employment opportunities, and arrests, mass incarceration, and police brutality. We, like many others, are frustrated, angry, and disappointed at the recent events related to the unjust murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all of the other nameless individuals whose stories have not made headlines but who have suffered similar injustices.
ABA Collective is committed to continuing to provide compassionate services to our clients and families. At this time and moving forward, we will actively listen and learn to best collaborate with our clients based on their values, beliefs, goals, and backgrounds so that we are capable of providing the services they need for the best possible and most socially valid outcomes.
As behavior analysts and those working in the field of behavior analysis, we are guided by a Professional and Ethical Compliance Code. We are obligated under this code to do no harm. We are obligated to refrain from engaging in discriminatory behavior of any kind. ABA Collective will continue to strictly adhere to these ethical guidelines.
We intend to better our organization by doing the much-needed work to educate our team on the systems of white privilege and supremacy that have allowed systemic racism to plague this country for too long. It is time to listen to those who have so long suffered injustices, it is time to learn how to be better allies, and it is time for structural change.
